Blurb Inc. launches new print API with two partners

BuzzFeed and StoryWorth Successfully Integrate New Blurb Print Platform to Provide Their Customers with Customized Print Content

San Francisco, May 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Blurb, Inc., the global leaders in creative book and magazine self-publishing platform, announced the release of Blurb’s new Print API and integrations with BuzzFeed and StoryWorth. Blurb’s new API enables content-focused organizations to offer their customers the ability to create and print custom books.

“For more than a decade, consumers, creative professionals, and businesses have turned to Blurb’s self-publishing platform to create and sell high-quality books and magazines. Now we can deliver those same core capabilities to content-rich companies through our new Print API and enable new ways to efficiently extend their brand into new markets and create new revenue streams,” said Rix Kramlich, Chief Executive Officer of Blurb. “Partnering with BuzzFeed and StoryWorth, as early adopters of our API partner program, has proven to be valuable for Blurb, our API partners, and their customers. They represent two different industries, yet both have the ability to leverage digital content and turn it into tangible, custom, and meaningful keepsakes for their customers.”

Blurb’s Print API provides the means for companies to fully automate the creation, printing, and delivery of customized books to their customers anywhere in the world. Blurb provides various levels of technology and support based on a partner’s needs, ranging from access to its print-on-demand infrastructure, custom book sizes, and branded customer-facing ecommerce sites.

As an example, BuzzFeed allows their customers to create a personalized cookbook of their favorite Tasty recipes by selecting recipe collections, adding a personalized dedication, and then ordering from Tasty’s online store, www.tastyshop.com. Blurb then automates the processing of the files, printing the book, and delivering those individualized cookbooks to their customers all around the world.

StoryWorth offers consumers a platform to preserve and share stories. Invite a loved one to www.storyworth.com, and each week StoryWorth will email them a question about their life. All they have to do is reply with a story, and after a year, their memoir is printed as a beautiful Blurb book. Additional books for family members and friends can also be printed on-demand.

“Blurb’s automated Print API handles all the complexity of printing and shipping books, so we can focus on building great new features for our customers,” said Nick Baum, Chief Executive Officer at StoryWorth. “Adding book printing to StoryWorth has had a meaningful impact on our sales. There’s just something so satisfying and valuable about receiving a tangible keepsake book.”
