The Imaging Alliance to Honor Four Visionary Photographers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Winners’ Work Redefines the Possibilities of Imaging

WOODBURY, NY, Oct. 6, 2016The Imaging Alliance, a non-profit organization representing the bold and diverse imaging industry, today announced the winners of its prestigious Visionary Photographer Award for 2017. Drew Geraci, James L. Niehouse, Corey Rich and Benjamin Von Wong will be honored for their visionary achievements at The Imaging Alliance’s Celebrate Imaging event on the eve of CES 2017 on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, in Las Vegas.

“Our objective is to showcase the new possibilities of imaging,” said Jerry Grossman, executive director, The Imaging Alliance. “Whereas in years past, the PMDA focused on corporate achievements, The Imaging Alliance is taking a new approach in honoring those who are truly pushing the envelope of imaging. This is an esteemed group of visionary artists who are defining the future of visual communication. Their creativity seemingly knows no bounds.”

Drew Geraci is a passionate and award-winning photographer/videographer who specializes in motion time-lapse photography, video production, and aerial videography. An owner of District7 Media, his credits include the opening sequence to Netflix’s House of Cards, Apple, Discovery Channel, Red Bull Media, NFL Films, X Games, Corona Extra “Luna Corona” promos, PBS’s Frontline, HBO Documentaries, and many other commercial productions.

James L. Niehouse has worked on more than 30 IMAX films and other larger formats. His first credit as director of photography was on the film The Eruption of Mount St. Helens, which was the first IMAX to be nominated for the Academy Award. He has contributed to some of the most successful films in the format, including The Dream is Alive, Space Station 3D, Hubble 3D and Ocean Oasis. James’ most recent project, A Beautiful Planet, was released this April.  It was the first IMAX production to be produced with all digital cameras.

Corey Rich’s imaginative still and motion work over the last two decades proves that it’s not only possible to achieve Hollywood-grade results with a “small-footprint production” model, but that it often produces better, more authentic visual stories. His recent work launching the Nikon KeyMission 360, an ultra-HD virtual-reality-capturing action camera, illustrates his passion for bringing classic storytelling creativity to the latest, most cutting-edge technology of today.

Motivated by the desire to be creatively challenged and overcome impossibilities, Sony Artisan Benjamin Von Wong has become well known for his epic photography. His hyper-realistic art style captures viewers in a fusion of special effects and innovative concepts. Von Wong’s background in engineering gives him a unique edge for creative problem solving, where technical challenges become friendly competition.

The awards ceremony, which will showcase the winners’ imaging achievements, will take place at The Foundry, at the SLS Hotel. For more information, contact Michelle Tramantano at [email protected].
