Unique Photo announces expanded educational programs for amateur and professional photographers

“The number of photos being taken today has exploded exponentially,” explained Alexander Sweetwood, president of Unique Photo. “More than one trillion photos will be taken this year. Behind all those images are a growing number of people who have become amateur photographers and have a desire to capture better pictures. The demand for our workshops and trips continues to grow.”

Unique Photo was founded when Bernard and Harriet Sweetwood opened a small photographic supply outlet in Brooklyn, New York, in 1947. They went on to open more than 20 retail outlets in department stores across New Jersey before launching their first independent retail location in New Jersey — Hoboken Camera Center — in 1954. Still a family-owned business, Unique Photo has grown to become New Jersey’s largest retail camera store and center for photography education, with two locations: its flagship store in Fairfield and its recently opened location in Hoboken.
