Dallas approves $1.7 million in incentives for Vistaprint to bring 600 jobs

The Dallas Morning News reports the Dallas City Council has approved a plan, called “Project Apollo,” for Cimpress-unit Vistaprint to open a $50 million printing plant expected to create 600 jobs.

According to the article, Vistaprint is expected to invest up to $50 million on the plant near the International Inland Port of Dallas, a logistics hub. The 322,000-square-foot facility is expected to bring more than 600 high-skill, high-paying jobs — with the potential for more than a hundred seasonal jobs — to a part of the city mired in high poverty and unemployment.

Christian Vaillant, North American VP of manufacturing for Vistaprint, told The Dallas Morning News the facility would necessitate approximately 150 “white-collar” jobs and 450 manufacturing jobs.

The article stated the three-part financial incentives package was primarily for $1.3 million in property tax abatements for Vistaprint and Becknell, a landholder. The rest is a grant for workforce development programs for southern Dallas residents.
