Viewbug now letting users share free stock photos

Photo sharing and contest site Viewbug is has opened up its service to allow users to offer their images as “free stock photos.”  The site states: “This is a great way to promote your photography and have it show up on different websites, ads, and social media.”

Startup names are still getting less silly

Crunchbase released its annual review of startup names. The “standout trend for the past year is the feel-good word. This could be a noun, adjective, adverb, or verb. The qualification is that it evokes something positive, commonly an admirable trait or desirable state of being,” writes Joanna Glasner.

Minolta 7000 registered as essential historical material for science and technology

Konica Minolta announced the Minolta 7000 was registered as an Essential Historical Material for Science and Technology by the National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo, Japan. The historic camera was launched in 1985; the recognition positions the product as an important development linked to the current DSLR camera systems. (Ironically, Sony bought the KM camera business in 2006.)

Shutterfly names Craig Rowley senior vice president and CMO

Shutterfly announced the appointment of Craig Rowley as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. In this role, Rowley will be responsible for all marketing strategies across Shutterfly’s portfolio of brands, including its Shutterfly namesake, Lifetouch, and Snapfish, among others. He joins the company on Sept. 14, 2020. He succeeds Mickey Mericle.

Lee Filters names sales director

A manufacturer of lighting gels and photographic filters, Lee Filters appointed Tim Haskell as director of Sales, via Digital Imaging Reporter. Haskell takes over from Ian Clark.

Xerox CFO departs, Xavier Heiss is interim CFO

Xerox Holding Corp. announced CFO William Osbourn will leave the company for personal reasons, effective Sept. 30. Xavier Heiss, a 32-year company veteran, will serve as interim CFO while the company conducts a search.
