Insta360 debuts folding stereoscopic 3D, 360-degree camera

Insta360 launched the Insta360 EVO, a 360-degree camera that also folds outward into a stereoscopic 3D 180-degree camera. Like the recently launched Insta360 ONE X, the Insta360 EVO shoots 5.7K 360-degree video, and 18-megapixel 360-degree still photos, along with the impressive FlowState stabilization for creating impressive action shots.

Along with the new camera hardware, Insta360 also released Insta360 VR, an app for Oculus Go, HTC VIVE Focus and Samsung Gear VR which connects the EVO directly to a headset for streamlined wireless playback and transfer. There’s also a new Insta360 HoloFrame, designed specifically for a phone display, allowing the user to watch 3D photos and video with the naked eye.

The companion app, necessary because the device has no screen, controls functions like TimeShift mode for time-lapse or hyper-lapse photography and HDR video. For still photos, capture timed photos, interval photos, HDR and RAW files using the app to select the mode.
