photobook.ai expands to Brasil with the release of d.book app for Android

Announces multi-year exclusive collaboration with Digipix to market mobile photobook making in Brasil

19 June 2019, Sao Paulo and Singapore –  photobook.ai, developer of artificial intelligence storytelling apps and a leader in edge-computing visual intelligence technologies, announces a multi-year exclusive collaboration with Digipix Grafica Digital S.A. Both companies announce the release of their first app, d.book for Android, which combines the advanced AI from photobook.ai with Digipix’s best-in-breed print fulfillment services to deliver a superior photobook product and service in the competitive Brazilian print personalization market.

d.book for Android automatically scans smartphone photos and groups related photos into Collections. Users simply choose a Collection, then the photos are curated using advanced computer vision and artificial intelligence algorithms to craft a story.  Duplicates, blurred, over- or under-exposed photos are automatically discarded. Collages are automatically created of food and coffee images, whilst photos of documents, boarding passes and screenshots are removed. d.book will also intelligently detect faces and make sure they are not cropped when laid out into pages.

d.book also comes integrated with Perfectly Clear, the patented color-science technology from EyeQ which automatically corrects the images to ensure color fidelity and vibrancy when printed.

The entire bookmaking experience works natively on the mobile phone and does not require an internet connection until users are ready to order the book. Photobooks can now be created right after a trip whilst still on the plane!

Users can order square books in three finishes: softcover or hardcover in either PUR bind or a premium hardcover layflat. These are all available in three sizes of 15x15cm, 21x21cm and 30x30cm. Users can customize their photobooks, order and pay directly in the app.  All popular payment modes in Brasil, like Boleto and credit cards, are supported.

“Both teams have reiterated multiple times and worked hard for more than a year, and we have together crafted a photobook making experience never before available on a phone,” says Terence Swee, Founder and CEO, photobook.ai. “Brasil has an internet population of over 140 million people, the fourth largest in the world, of which 69% accessed the internet via a smartphone.  E-commerce spending is growing in double digits where only 33% of all transactions are via mobile. There is a lot of room for m-commerce to grow. Given that the phone is also their primary camera, it is only natural that photo products be created and finished on a smartphone!”

“We believe AI is going to be a key driver of growth in the print industry,” says Marco Perlman, Founder and CEO of Digipix. “It’s a deep science and art and with exhaustingly fast innovation cycles. It makes sense to partner with an established team with the expertise and deep focus in this area.”

d.book is currently only Android and available for free download from Google Play.  Phones need to have a minimum of 2GB of memory, and run Android 5.0 and later. To make 30x30cm books, photos have to have a minimum resolution of 6 megapixels. Visit https://www.dbook.com.br for more information.
