Printbox introduces responsive photo book editor, releases ebook

Poland-based enterprise photo products software maker Printbox, released an advanced responsive editor. The RWD-compliant editor was built based on the top UX trends to make the designing of photo books on mobile devices even more convenient than before, the company said.

The change was made when internal analysis of Printbox clients’ data showed the share of mobile customers in total website traffic of the photo printing business can reach up to 70%. Every 10th project, created in Printbox editors, was made in a responsive version.

The new Printbox functionalities include Smart Creation and Smart Ideas functions – intelligent technologies for dynamically proposing spreads and automatically creating ready-made photo books from the user’s photos.

More is not always better,”  said Jakub Kuśmider, product owner, Printbox. “Users overwhelmed by the number of features and editing possibilities may delay the decision to place an order because they will never find their design perfect. It was crucial for us to take care of even small nuances, such as trouble-free adding photos and pages, a well-arranged preview, or limiting pop-up windows blocking the view of the design space. It is the foundation of a great mobile user experience in the photo printing business.”

Smart Guide: Intelligent Algorithms in Photo Products Sector

In other Printbox news, the company has released the “Smart Guide: Intelligent Algorithms in Photo Products Sector” ebook, showing the results of its analysis of the impact of smart algorithms and AI on conversion and project creation time. The results and conclusions of the research on AI technology are available to download here.

The traditional approach to designing photo books and albums results in the loss of many potential customers who quit the service even before starting the project. Most people are convinced that they will have to spend a lot of time and work in this process. That is why AI is the future of creating photo books.

Software solutions such as Neural Networks, Machine Learning, and Machine Vision are used to process large amounts of data contained in user-uploaded photos, identify the content of the images, and combine all items into outstanding photo books in just seconds.

In response to the growing realization photo-book customers need more intelligent assistance to create more products, Printbox developed Smart Creation, a proprietary solution providing intelligent automation for photo book creation. The product uses AI in TensorFlow with various Convolutional and Siamese Neural Networks, paired with classical image processing algorithms, the company said.

The users can upload their photos to the editor, and intelligent algorithms would do the work. The Smart Creation analyzes each of the given images, detects the subject of the photos, and picks the best ones to create a coherent story.

The technology was officially released in October 2020 and the first Printbox customers started using it at beginning of 2021. Since then, Printbox with the cooperation of two top clients were conducting Live Tests with real-store users. The purpose of the tests was to examine the impact of AI on conversion and project creation time by users in the client’s environment.
