Shutterfly names Craig Rowley senior vice president and CMO

Shutterfly announced the appointment of Craig Rowley as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. In this role, Rowley will be responsible for all marketing strategies across Shutterfly’s portfolio of brands, including its Shutterfly namesake, Lifetouch and Snapfish, among others. He joins the company on Sept. 14, 2020. He succeeds Mickey Mericle, who served in the role of CMO for 14 months.

Rowley brings more than 20 years of brand marketing and advertising experience spanning multiple industries – retail, eCommerce, technology, outdoor gear/apparel, packaged goods, automotive, travel/hospitality – and multiple household brands including Porsche, Intel, Harley-Davidson, Toyota, REI, Ritz Carlton, Procter & Gamble, John Deere, Kraft, Colgate-Palmolive, and more.

Most recently, Rowley was chief marketing officer at Groupon, where he led the global multi-disciplinary team in an effort to transform Groupon to a vibrant, local experiences marketplace. Prior to Groupon, he led REI’s purpose-driven brand transformation through such campaigns as #OptOutside and fueled gender equality in the outdoors through campaigns such as #ForceofNature.

He earned an MBA from J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and a bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Marketing from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
