SmugMug debuts RAW file management system

SmugMug debuted SmugMug Source, an add-on for SmugMug subscribers enabling seamless access and visibility for every major RAW filetype, right on SmugMug. Source currently supports the following RAW formats: ARW, BMP, CR2, CR3, CRW, DCR, DNG, IIQ, MRW, NEF, NRW, ORF, PEF, RAF, RAW, RW2, RWL, SRF, SRW, TIFF, TIF, X3F.

In addition to providing RAW storage, Source integrates with SmugMug apps on desktop, mobile, web, and editing suites like Adobe Lightroom. SmugMug customers can upload their RAW files from anywhere, customize security and access privileges, and organize files so they’re searchable and easy to find. Scheduled uploads and watched folders help photographers automate their workflow.

Source is a separate add-on subscription to any SmugMug plan and is billed as a “pay only for the data you use” service, with tiered monthly pricing. Up to 512GB — or more than 12,000 RAW files, on average — will cost $3 per month. From 512GB to 1TB, the price is $5, with $5 added for every additional TB of data needed, the company said.
