Taopix appoints Nigel Lee to executive chairman

The world’s leading provider of photo commerce software, Taopix, has appointed Nigel Lee as Executive Chairman. Lee will head up the executive team taking direct responsibility for all commercial and financial aspects of the business.

Nigel Lee joined the Taopix Board of Directors in Q4 2017 and has been working closely with the senior team since then.

“Since joining the Board last year Nigel has helped us enormously in sharpening our focus, improving our working practices and helping us define our core strategy for growth across all aspects of our business,” says James Gray, Founder and CEO of Taopix. “It was a natural step for me to take in asking Nigel to take more of an active role in helping us execute on our plans. I was delighted when he said yes.” continues Gray.

Taopix first met Nigel Lee during his tenure as CEO of Lulu.com, the global market leader in online independent publishing. Lulu.com became a customer of Taopix and both CEOs maintained a regular strategic dialogue.

“Myself and the team have been continually impressed with the contribution Nigel has made to our business so far. The opportunity to have someone on the team full-time who speaks ‘fluent customer’ is an opportunity not to be missed.” explains Gray, Taopix CEO. “Having led Lulu.com, Nigel is uniquely positioned to see our product from the end consumer’s perspective and not least through the eyes of our customer.” he continues.

Prior to Lulu.com, Lee had built a successful track record in growing software companies in the Finance and Banking Technology space. Lee has over 28 years experience in commercial software and has occupied an executive role for the last 19 of those 28 years.

“Taopix is about to enter another period of exponential growth and having someone with Nigel’s track record lead this commercial focus is invaluable. Growing software companies is what he does. Our customers have a lot to look forward to in terms of the innovative products and services we’re about to bring to market, and not least improvements we will make to our customer engagement at all stages of the customer relationship.” concludes Gray.

In his role of Executive Chairman, Nigel Lee will take full financial and commercial responsibility including company strategy, finance, sales and marketing and professional services. James Gray retains the position of CEO with a primary focus on product and technology. Together, Gray and Lee will lead Taopix on an ambitious growth path further cementing the firm’s global market leadership position in the photo commerce software industry.

“It has been an enormous pleasure to work more closely with the Taopix team. They are focused and dedicated towards their customer’s success and an open and high spirited bunch.” says Lee. “I’m very excited to join the executive team as we take the company to the next level of success. I have a great belief in the growth potential of the market and given our plans, Taopix’ ability to execute, succeed and ultimately dominate the market.” continues Lee.

“I’ve commercially led a number of software businesses to significant growth and my experience has taught me that continued innovation and a commitment to excellence in the field are the roots of success. 25 years in the commercial software industry and some years at the helm of Lulu.com equip me well to lead the Taopix team with vigour and enthusiasm,” concludes Lee.

As Taopix gears up for launching some of the most innovative products ever seen in the market, Photokina 2018 provides an ideal event for the firm to showcase its next-generation photo commerce platform. It’s also a great opportunity for customers and prospects alike to meet Nigel Lee in person, as he hosts ‘Chairman’s Drinks’ at the event in Cologne in September.
