GotPhoto has announced that Mahesh Guruswamy has been appointed CEO, effective Sept. 15, succeeding James Micklethwait.
Micklethwait will remain with GotPhoto as Outgoing CEO through the end of 2026 to support a smooth leadership transition. Micklethwait became CEO in January 2025, having previously served as GotPhoto’s chief product and growth officer. Before joining GotPhoto, he held leadership positions focused on product and growth.
In a message to customers & partners, Micklethwait said, “Nothing changes from our perspective during this leadership transition,” and invited them to reach out to him or Guruswamy with any questions about the transition.
Guruswamy is based in the United States, and GotPhoto said his appointment reflects the company’s deepening investment in the US and Canadian markets, where it has seen its strongest growth.
Guruswamy brings extensive experience leading product, technology and customer-focused organizations at technology companies. Most recently, he served as chief operating officer of creator-commerce platform Kajabi, where he oversaw product, engineering, design and customer experience. Previously, he served as chief product and technology officer at Kickstarter, leading the company’s product and engineering organizations.
In a statement announcing his move, Guruswamy said “I’ve spent the last decade building software and services for small and medium-sized businesses across different segments, and I can’t wait to bring that expertise and passion to the volume photography market. There’s also something special about capturing a memory you can hold in your hands, and I have a feeling physical photographs will outlast a lot of what we assume is permanent today. Excited to meet our customers who make this magic happen every day!”
GotPhoto provides workflow, online sales and automation technology for high-volume photography businesses, including school, sports and volume portrait photographers.
