News from the APPO National Conference 2017

The Association Of Personal Photo Organizers (APPO) held their 2017 National Conference in Cleveland, Ohio, March 29 – April 1. Once again, the event brought together photo-scanning industry professionals and home-based businesses to come up wth ways to grow their business. While not a major event on the photo industry calendar, the APPO conference has a devoted following and a dynamic education program. The conference schedule was packed with social functions, activities and in-depth learning sessions for organizers of all levels.

The event did have some interesting product launches, listed here:

  • WeGather, the photo app side of Save Family Photos, was introduced to provide a way for friends and family to share the stories and to collaborate on the history behind family photos. Check it out on iOS and Android here: get.wegather.co
  • E-Z Photo Scan previewed the announcement of the consolidation of the Kodak Picture Saver scanner lineup into one model. Read about in the press release here.
  • Hale Orb

Hale Orb is a bluetooth enabled  deviced for reviewing images on a screen. The friendly and decorative orb connects to a TV via HDMI, and the user scrolls through images accessed via the devices wireless internet connection. The device aggregates images shared to the user from popular apps like Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, Google Photos, and even email. The Hale Orb automatically aggregates those photos to be shown in one place for you.

  • Vivid-Pix was on-hand demonstrating the latest version of its Restore image-enhancement software for every-day users. Restore offers on-click image fixing for color and contrast, which is especially useful for scanned images of old photos.
