Canon cuts about 15% of its US dealer network

According to the Canon Price Watch blog, Canon USA has trimmed more than 80 authorized dealers from its authorized dealer list. The blog cited “industry sources” explaining the changes were “targeted towards smaller stores, as well as online-only dealers, in a bid to reduce Canon USA’s operating costs — fewer dealers means less Canon USA expenditure on sales management, marketing, operations, and compliance.”

The dealer consolidation is the latest in a series of cost-cutting actions included layoffs as well as closure of their Jamesburg NJ service center.

Canon USA has not responded to inquiries from the Dead Pixels Society for comment.
