Canon Inc. reported a 4.9% increase in third-quarter 2026 consolidated revenue to ¥1.159 trillion, while operating profit rose 10.3% to ¥97.1 billion. The company’s Imaging business delivered particularly strong results, although component shortages and rising costs remain concerns.

Imaging revenue increased 16.3% year-over-year to ¥294.9 billion, while operating profit climbed 22.7% to ¥46.8 billion. Traditional camera revenue rose 4% to ¥158.8 billion, while network cameras and related products surged 34.9% to ¥136.1 billion.

Canon reported renewed consumer interest in compact digital cameras, with revenue increasing more than 50%, partly driven by younger photographers. Component shortages have constrained production, however, prompting Canon to lower its full-year compact camera outlook.

Interchangeable-lens camera unit sales declined 16%, although higher average selling prices helped offset the volume decline. Canon expects the worldwide interchangeable-lens camera market to reach approximately 6.3 million units in 2026.

Despite Imaging’s performance, Canon lowered its consolidated full-year revenue forecast to ¥4.766 trillion and operating profit forecast to ¥456 billion, primarily reflecting challenges in its Medical business.

In the Printing segment, Canon recorded a 3.9% revenue increase to ¥627.5 billion, but operating profit declined 3%. Excluding currency effects, segment revenue fell 1.3%, indicating continued underlying market weakness.
