French software company Claranova reported declining revenue in its photography business for fiscal 2025–2026, contributing to a broader downturn in company sales. The company reported annual revenue of €93.7 million, down 20.6% on a reported basis and 11.8% organically.
Claranova identified its Photography segment and advertising-related Utilities business as the primary sources of the organic revenue decline. The company attributed some of the weakness to its deliberate decision to limit customer acquisition spending to protect profitability. The company did not disclose separate revenue or profitability figures for its Photography segment.
Claranova’s normalized recurring operating income declined 15.5% to €20.4 million, although its operating margin improved to 21.7%, compared with 20.4% a year earlier. Net income totaled €4.3 million.
CEO Eric Gareau acknowledged the company’s disappointing performance, noting growth in software products had not offset declines in Photography and advertising-related Utilities.
Following the earlier divestiture of PlanetArt, Claranova has repositioned itself around subscription-based software. Recurring revenue now represents 83% of sales.
Looking ahead, Claranova is prioritizing investment in Document/PDF software, artificial intelligence and business-to-business services. The company’s revised 2028 objectives do not identify photography as a specific growth priority.
