Formula 1 and Leica Camera announced a licensing partnership with the launch of a special edition Leica Q3 43 Formula 1 camera. Both brands have a long tradition of innovation, and together, have created a camera that enables exceptionally authentic photography and translates the fascination sparked by motorsport into a handcrafted design.

Inspired by Formula 1, the camera’s features include a non-slip Microvelour covering modelled on a racing steering wheel. A Formula 1 logo is positioned on the top plate and lens cap, and the visible fibre structure on the camera is made from genuine carbon, a material not traditionally used in Leica cameras, but a regular in motor racing because it combines low weight with extreme rigidity.

The new Leica ‘Formula 1’ look was specifically developed for the camera to create imagery that complements the world of motorsport with a higher contrast and richer saturation, to capture the atmosphere of the racetrack and paddock in the final image. This look is available exclusively on the Leica Q3 43 Formula 1 camera via the Leica FOTOS App and can be applied immediately while taking photos, so that the effect is visible in the viewfinder, rather than only emerging during post-processing. The same app then transfers images and videos to mobile devices.

The Leica Q3 43 Formula 1 Edition is now available at all Leica Stores, in the Leica Online Store and from specialist retailers
