Insta360 debuts tiny action camera, GO 2

GO 2 on a mountain bike helmet

Insta360 launched GO 2, a stabilized action camera weighing just 27 grams — that’s less than an ounce. The Insta360 GO 2’s ultra-light waterproof body enables high-res, hands-free recording. GO 2 is IPX8 waterproof straight out of the box.

Insta360 GO 2, complete with a multi-purpose Charge Case and a selection of mounting accessories, is available to order today. GO 2 retails for $299.99 / £294.99 and comes with an included Charge Case, Magnet Pendant, Easy Clip, Pivot Stand, and Lens Guard. You can also customize your GO 2 by designing a one-of-a-kind “skin” exclusively at Insta360.com.

The Insta360 GO 2 has a powerful built-in magnet, which pairs with the Magnet Pendant so you can pop GO 2 right on your shirt. The Easy Clip attaches GO 2 to your hat or headband for a POV shot. Once GO 2 is in position, shooting a video starts with a press on the front of the camera.

The GO 2 features a 1/2.3” image sensor to capture crisp, clear, and detailed ultra-wide angle shots, the company says, in 1440p. Insta360 incorporates its FlowState stabilization and horizon-leveling algorithms to reduce shake, bumps and other distractions.

The GO 2’s Charge Case allows up to 150 minutes of remote recording; the device charges in about half an hour. The case doubles as a remote, a tripod, and a handheld grip, plus it has a ¼” mounting point. The user can use the case’s Bluetooth connection to control the device up to 10 meters away.

The companion smartphone app allows the user to monitor the usage in real-time over wifi and even edit the footage directly on the camera. Insta360’s AI-powered FlashCut 2.0 can auto-edit clips into a story, complete with music soundtrack.

Editing with the GO 2

Users can choose four fields of view, including 120-degree “Ultra Wide” field of view and 110-degree “ActionView” field of view.

Cute as a button

Insta360 also announced the Insta360 GO 2 Minions Edition camera, based on Illumination’s  Minions characters. With the Minions Edition, the camera takes on the iconic appearance of the Minions with a signature yellow-and-blue design. The camera’s ultra-wide lens mimics the single eye of a Minion and captures crisp, stabilized 1440p 50fps video.

“Our action cameras are all about having fun and capturing your adventures. Designing a camera based on Illumination’s global phenomenon, the Minions, was a perfect fit for Insta360,” said Michael Shabun, VP of Marketing and Business Development at Insta360.

Insta360 G0 2 Minions Edition

Insta360 GO 2 Minions Edition will be available this summer exclusively via Insta360.com in the U.S, Canada, Japan, Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Insta360 GO 2 Minions Edition retails for $329.99. Insta360 GO 2 Minions Edition comes with a Charge Case (also with a Minions design), Lens Guard, and three mounting accessories—the Magnet Pendant, Easy Clip, and Pivot Stand.

*Devices that do not meet the above requirements can still use the app to control GO 2, however, performance of some processor-intensive, AI-powered features may be sub-optimal. Phones equipped with Qualcomm SDM765 5G chips have poor hardware decoding capabilities and are not supported for use. The installation of the app requires a mobile phone with a 64-bit system.
