Kodak Alaris debuts KODAK S5000 Scanner Series and KODAK Capture Pro 7.0

Kodak Alaris introduced the new generation of production scanners and the KODAK Capture Pro capture solution. The new KODAK S5000 Series Scanners are  consistently designed for maximum productivity for high scanning volumes, while the software ensures increased automation.

At the heart of the new KODAK S5000 Scanners is a 32-core image processor – compared to 12 cores in previous models. This not only enables a significantly higher throughput, but also parallel processing steps at a consistently high speed, even for complex scan jobs. Kodak Alaris uses the term “Dynamic Flow” to describe the intelligent distribution of the computing load between the scanner and the software. Many processing steps – such as image optimization, skew correction or color adjustment – are carried out directly in the scanner, which significantly reduces the load on the connected capture software. The scanners also have a tri-stream function, supported by KODAK Capture Pro 7.0, which allows three different image outputs of a page to be created simultaneously: Color, Black & White and Black & White Dropout – without sacrificing speed.

The US guideline for document authenticity, the Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative (FADGI), stipulates, among other things, that images are true to the original. The new KODAK S5160, S5180, and S5210 scanners offer easy switching between different imaging modes via a driver, without additional software. With FADGI Dual Stream, unaltered images of original documents can be created for the archive, while at the same time Perfect Page generates optimized images for further processing.

KODAK scanners are known for their intelligent document protection and reliable feeding behavior. With the S5000 Series, these features have been further optimized. Sensitive documents can also be processed in mixed batches. The scanner identifies an inserted separator sheet in the stack and stops the feed so that the operator can reduce the feed speed accordingly. Thanks to the controlled output, the order of the documents is maintained even in stacks with heterogeneous and small documents.

The intelligent document protection offers four independent protection mechanisms such as ultrasonic double-sheet detection, metal detectors recognize staples and paper clips, sensitive microphones that register creasing noises, and sensors that reduce the speed. In the event of problems, the feeder stops immediately before jams and damage to documents occur.

Thanks to the straight paper guide, media with paper thicknesses between 25 g/m² and 433 g/m² can be processed reliably. Another feature is the ability to capture extra-long documents with a length of up to ten meters in one piece or even infinitely long in “continuous mode”. These are first broken down into partial segments and then reassembled into a complete image without loss using KODAK Capture Pro 7.0.

All KODAK S5000 Series Scanners have a rear sorting tray so that patch sheets, for example, can be output and reused separately.

The KODAK S5000 Series Scanners are network-compatible and easy to set up. Thanks to the large, intuitive 9.3-inch control panel with mechanical buttons and a 7.5-inch touch screen, operation has been further simplified.

KODAK Capture Pro Software has been optimized for use with the KODAK S5000 Series Scanners. Version 7.0 is based on a true 64-bit architecture, enabling stable and high-performance processing of even large amounts of data. The clear user interface in tile layout can be easily adapted to individual requirements.

Models and availability

The KODAK S5000 Series includes the following models, which will be available in August 2025:

• KODAK S5160 – 160 sheets per minute (up to 960 images per minute in Tri- Stream mode)
• KODAK S5180 – 180 sheets per minute (up to 1,080 images per minute in tristream mode)
• KODAK S5210 – 210 sheets per minute (up to 1,260 images per minute in TriStream mode)
• KODAK Capture Pro 7.0 will be available in August 2025.
