Nikon reports first-quarter revenue down 3%

Nikon Corp. reported first-quarter consolidated revenue of ¥158,121 million, down 3.5% year-on-year. The company posted an operating loss of ¥1,191 million (compared to a profit of ¥2,950 million in the prior-year quarter), while profit attributable to owners of parent surged to ¥9,469 million, mainly due to deferred tax asset recognition from the dissolution of a subsidiary, Nikon Metrology NV.

Imaging Products Business Highlights

•Solid sales volume for digital cameras, especially mirrorless models.
•Key models driving sales: Newly released Z5II and Z50II; strong demand for interchangeable lenses.
•Revenue: ¥80,034 million, down from ¥83,714 million in the previous year’s quarter.
•Segment profit: ¥11,030 million, a notable drop from ¥17,880 million the previous year.
