Portfolio DAM, LLC, a leader in on-premise digital asset management systems, and ICS Color, a leader in digital color proofing solutions, are teaming up to provide a set of bundles for packaging and commercial printers, consumer product goods companies, and creative and premedia providers. Both companies have been delivering best-in-class solutions to their customers for many years.

The Portfolio turnkey systems include all needed software and server hardware, and lets any team in the creative supply chain be fully equipped to search, manage and approve the color of their output. “Our customers have told us they need to solve the problem of quickly finding assets, verifying color, proofing and outputting with confidence,” said Sam Bogoch, CEO of Portfolio DAM. “We’re delighted with this bundle, which provides pro-level cataloging, tagging and search, together with color-accurate digital proofing, affordably to nearly any workgroup.”

Both Portfolio and ICS are seeing a clear shift underway in the supply chains and major CPG’s towards keeping media assets on premise, as a reaction to the high cost and security concerns that accompany cloud solutions, as well as streamlining workflows by replacing hard copy proofs shipped around the world with accurate display proofs which arrive in minutes. These Portfolio DAM/ICS bundles run completely on premise, with secure browser-based interfaces that can be accessed over a local network, or if desired, remotely via reverse proxy networks or VPNs. Meanwhile, the excessive cost of using FedEx and other overnight services to send physical proofs is an added expense that no longer makes sense.

What used to be only available to the largest printing operations is now economical and deployable for almost any small or midsize production team or CPG – utilizing digital proofs along with options for on-premise AI tagging and searching of assets.

“With these combined solutions, brands can get to market more quickly, printers save time, money and add flexibilityand everyone benefits from from a fully digital and more sustainable workflow” says Dan Caldwell, CEO of ICScolor.

All bundles are available immediately, and include the following:

1. Portfolio DAM – this server software automatically catalogs nearly any on-premise filesystem (whether local or NAS-based) and delivers high-end DAM features such as browsable previews, sophisticated metadata capabilities, configurable per-user permissions, advanced search capabilities and the ability to publish defined subsets of each catalog dynamically via its NetPublish feature. NetPublish is especially powerful for print and prepress providers who want to show a targeted section of their asset database to each external client, while maintaining a global view internally.

a. Connectr workflow automation software – this tool provides graphical workflow design that lets even non-technical users deploy custom workflows, as well as integrate multiple applications for specific supply-chain results.

b. Dell hardware, running Windows 11 Pro workstation software, provides a complete turnkey workgroup server. Client workstations, both Mac and Windows, access this server through standard browsers.

c. Some bundles include a 2nd server as well as the Axle AI Tags on-premise engine for image tagging and search. This revolutionary option adds a combination of automated scene understanding, face recognition, logo recognition, object recognition and OCR (optical character recognition), making assets such as PDFs and photos easily searchable without the need for operator tagging..

2. Remote Director – is the only solution on the market today to provide a turnkey answer to streamlining the proofing workflow and automatically coordinating color settings across the project. Our patented software not only guarantees that all participants are viewing the same color on their calibrated monitors, but “heals” the break caused by hard copy proofs in an otherwise totally digital workflow.

a. Server-based proofing solution for routing, annotations, approval – coordinating color settings across all viewers. Pantone Libraries included, custom color and substate libraries available and hot folders for automation – with a client version on Mac and Windows

b. Coordinating color for each project or asset across the globe ensuring that everyone is seeing the same color.
