WaldoPro, the AI-powered workflow platform for volume photographers, today announced the release of Bib and Plate Number Recognition, a new feature that automatically identifies runner bib numbers and plate numbers for motocross. The technology enables photographers covering running races, cycling events, triathlons, and motorcycle racing to instantly organize, match, and deliver photos to participants with dramatically less manual work.
Race photography presents a unique operational challenge: thousands of athletes moving quickly through the frame, generating tens of thousands of images that must be sorted and delivered quickly. Traditionally, photographers rely on manual tagging or post-event search portals where participants attempt to locate their photos.
WaldoPro’s new AI recognition system automates this process.
In addition to Waldo’s core facial recognition, by detecting numbers on bibs and plates, WaldoPro can now automatically find and deliver more photos to competitors, within seconds of being uploaded. Once identified, participants who have pre-purchased their photos receive the photos they’re found in instantly via SMS or email, and those who have elected to preview receive copyright-protected proofs featuring Waldo’s Faceblocker copyright protection.
“Race photography is one of the highest-volume and most time-sensitive forms of event photography,” said Rodney Rice, CEO of Waldo Photos. “Photographers shouldn’t have to spend hours manually tagging photos based on bibs or number plates after an event. With WaldoPro’s enhanced AI recognizing bibs and number plates, race photographers can focus on capturing great images. At the same time, Waldo handles the sorting, delivery, and sales via our mobile-optimized web app.”
