From 2027, Koelnmesse and RINGFOTO GmbH & Co. KG are joining forces to jointly host and further develop the established event for photography, video and content creation, debuting Sept. 24-26, 2027, at the trade fair grounds as “Imaging World inspired by photokina”. Through this partnership, Koelnmesse says it is expanding its portfolio with a powerful platform for hands-on technology, creative practice and personal exchange across the imaging industry. RINGFOTO will remain closely involved as a key partner, contributing in-depth market expertise, a strong network across the industry and specialist retail, as well as established elements of the event concept.
Together, we aim to preserve the format’s clear profile and highly engaged community while further developing its international reach and relevance. Cologne provides the ideal setting: excellent trade fair infrastructure, outstanding international accessibility and a vibrant media and creative scene.
Following this year’s event in Nuremberg, Koelnmesse will take over as organizer from 2027 onwards. The company will contribute its international trade fair expertise and network to further develop “Imaging World inspired by photokina” as a central platform for photography, video, and content creation. RINGFOTO will remain closely involved as a key partner, contributing its market knowledge, its network in industry and trade, and key elements of the existing event concept. Together, the format will be further developed to better reflect market needs, and its visibility will be gradually expanded.
“With Imaging World inspired by photokina, an already established event format with a clear profile and a dedicated community is coming to Cologne,” says Oliver Frese, CEO of Koelnmesse. “Together with RINGFOTO, we want to preserve these strengths and strategically develop them further. We are also contributing the long-standing imaging expertise and international industry contacts that Koelnmesse has built up over decades with photokina. Cologne offers excellent conditions for this with its trade fair infrastructure, international accessibility, and strong media and creative environment.”
“Over the past two years, Imaging World has demonstrated the immense interest in a venue where products are not only presented but can also be experienced and tested directly,” adds Thilo Röhrig, Managing Director of RINGFOTO. “After two successful events in Nuremberg, Imaging World is ready for the next step. We want to continue this combination of technology, practical application, inspiration, and personal exchange in Cologne. In particular, we intend to further develop our concept, which consists of a classic trade fair exhibition paired with modern, interactive playgrounds and a comprehensive workshop and seminar program. RINGFOTO will remain an active partner for industry, retailers, and the community.”
