JOANN stores adds Polaroid, Sculpto 3D printers for holidays

Retail craft leader JOANN Stores announced its fourth-quarter holiday push will include adding 3D printers, refreshed retail stores and new omnichannel shopping options and more

“At JOANN, we believe the only way to make this season better, is to make it yourself. We want to inspire crafters at any skill level to give the gift of something handmade,” said Chris DiTullio, chief customer officer, JOANN Stores. “Whether it’s making for a charity, a handmade card, homemade cookies or personalized pajamas, we aim to inspire all to create this special time of year. And with less time between holidays this year, we’re providing customers with new omnichannel services and special promotions to get their shopping, crafting and decorating done early.”

Polaroid PlaySmart 3D printer

JOANN introduced 3D printers to its more than 500 retail stores and online, as the Polaroid PlaySmart 3D printer and 3D Sculpto printer are now available in the United States for the first time, exclusively at JOANN. The Polaroid and Sculpto 3D printers will be available, respectively, for $599.99 and $499.99.

“At JOANN, we’re continuously updating our offerings to ensure we’re evolving with our customers and maintaining our position as a leader in the retail craft space. This year, we are prioritizing innovations in crafting,” said Rob Will, chief merchandising officer at JOANN. “Customers are asking for convenience and more time-efficient ways to create, and we’re bringing them new tools to bring their inspiration to life.”

In addition to 3D printers, JOANN continues to expand its investment in technologies including Cricut and Glowforge laser printers to allow anyone to create personalized cards, t-shirts, home décor and more. JOANN  announced its investment in startup Glowforge earlier this year.

The retailer also updated shopping service to offer a same-day, buy online / pick-up in-store shopping for last-minute shopping needs and has implemented ship-from-store capabilities in several hubs.

As introduced in its Concept Store last year, JOANN also continues to open new stores and to remodel existing stores with features like:

  • JOANN Creator’s Studio in Columbus, Ohio

    The Creators’ Studio, a large open community space where customers can take classes, host events and work on projects while enjoying a cup of coffee;

  • Tools available for rental, including long-arm sewing machines, Cricut machines, and Glowforge, which cuts and engraves anything from wood to acrylic;
  • A concierge service called JOANN’s Custom Shop, which offers custom sewing services for anything from suit tailoring to home décor; and
  • New Cricut Shops in 13 stores, with added square footage, demo spaces, work tables and expanded machine and material assortments.

In 2019, JOANN opened 25 remodeled stores – including seven in October – to better serve customers across the nation, the company said.
