Meta introduces next-generation Ray-Ban Meta glasses

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Meta announced the next generation of its AI glasses, the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2). Ray-Ban Meta glasses (Gen 2) feature extended battery life, 3K Ultra HD video capture, new Meta AI features, and more. The glasses start at $379 USD. A fully-charged pair of Ray-Ban Meta glasses (Gen 2) can last up to eight hours with typical use. That’s almost twice the battery life of Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1).

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) has three styles: Wayfarer, the modern Skyler, or the popular Headliner.

Meta also unveiled the next evolution in AI glasses: Meta Ray-Ban Display and Meta Neural Band. Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses have an in-lens display to check messages, preview photos, see translations, get help from Meta AI, and more . These AI glasses come with a full-color, high-resolution display that’s there when you want it — and gone when you don’t. The display is placed off to the side, so it doesn’t obstruct the view. \

Each pair comes with Meta Neural Band, an EMG wristband that translates the signals created by muscle activity into commands.

$799 USD will purchase both the glasses and the Meta Neural Band. Meta Ray-Ban Display and the accompanying Meta Neural Band come in two colors: Black and Sand. The glasses feature Transitions lenses, so you can wear them inside and outside, day and night, with up to six hours of mixed-use battery life and up to 30 hours of total battery life thanks to the portable (and collapsible) charging case. And Meta Neural Band comes in three sizes.

Meta also built on its previous sports-focused AI glasses with the Oakley Meta Vanguard, a brand-new line of Performance AI glasses built for high-intensity sports.M

Meta’s AI glasses now fall into three distinct categories:

  • Camera AI glasses: We have the world’s best brands in eyewear with Ray-Ban and Oakley. And we’ll continue to expand to more styles and brands in the future, and deliver more AI-enabled features.
  • Display AI glasses: Meta Ray-Ban Display opens up a new category, anchored on the value of a powerful, contextual display.
  • Augmented reality glasses: AR glasses, like our Orion prototype, feature a large holographic display and digital experiences that augment the world around you. We’re continuing to work on a consumer version of our Orion prototype that we showed at Connect last year, so stay tuned.
