Kodak Professional launches AI-powered photo selection for photographers

Kodak Professional has launched Kodak Professional Select, an artificial-intelligence-based service to help portrait photographers select their best images. The company says the KPro Select algorithm evaluates images on two major criteria:

  • Technical Evaluation: color, focus, brightness, exposure, contrast, sharpness
  • Aesthetic Evaluation: eyes open, smiles, faces centered

The photographer uses a multi-step process to upload event photos to the Kodak Professional cloud, where the images are analyzed and selections made, and the images can be downloaded for reincorporation into the workflow. The service costs $29.95 a month or $299.95 a year.

When contacted by the Dead Pixels Society for more information, a Kodak Professional sales representative said “Select is designed for high-volume portrait photographers (weddings, etc.) and I’m not sure if we have a good fit with your audience of volume photographers and pro labs at this time.”
