Etsy testing printing of digital items through Shutterfly, Printify

Craft site Etsy is running a test with Shutterfly and Printify to promote printing and framing services for buyers of digital artwork and other content. The test isn’t tightly integrated with Etsy, however, as Etsy won’t be offering printing and framing services directly on its marketplace. In it’s place, after purchasing the digital item on Etsy, buyers enrolled in the test will see the option to try Printify or Shutterfly. After the choice, Etsy will send buyers to those sites to explore options and to place an order.
Etsy is maintaining a hands-off approach, as stated in the announcement: “After a buyer purchases a digital download, they may see the option to have their purchase printed or framed through Printify or Shutterfly in places like the order confirmation page. It’ll be clear to buyers that this service is offered via a third-party, not Etsy or Etsy sellers.”
The test is running in these categories for U.S. buyers:

  • Arts & Collectibles>Prints
  • Arts & Collectibles>Photography
  • Arts & Collectibles>Drawing & Illustration
  • Home & Living>Home Decor
