VueScan adds full support for 30 film scanners from Pacific Image Electronics

Hamrick Software, the developer of VueScan – the world’s most widely used scanning software – has released its latest version which has support for all film scanners from Pacific Image Electronics, including PIE’s latest scanner – the PowerFilm.

The PowerFilm is an affordable scanner with unique batch scanning capabilities. It allows users to quickly scan large quantities of 35mm filmstrips with a high resolution of 24M. The PowerFilm, is fast and efficient, it has high-speed scanning at 24 second/frame @6MP resolution. Using this fast 6M setting the digital output is high enough quality to make 300 dpi prints at 10.0 x 6.7 inches (25.4 x 16.9 cm) in size.

Compared to flatbed photo scanners and single filmstrip scanners, the PowerFilm saves time and effort. Users can literally walk away as it scans up to 10 filmstrips unattended. A compact scanner, it is designed for home use but with high-end quality results. The 24 MP image quality is comparable to high-end DSLR camera, and with 24M resolution you can output a print size of 20.0 x 13.3 inches (50.8 x 33.9 cm) at 300 dpi.

Ed Hamrick, President of Hamrick Software, says, “We support more than 6,000 different models of scanners, and I am very impressed by the PIE scanners. These are the most advanced film scanners made today, and VueScan now supports all of their advanced features on all versions of Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.”
