Denis Burger appointed CEO of software developer MAGIX
After seven years of leading multimedia software maker MAGIX, Klaus Schmidt is moving from operational corporate responsibility to the investor side. Denis Burger has succeeded him as the new CEO of MAGIX.
“We thank Klaus for his substantial contribution to the success story of MAGIX,” says Jürgen Jaron from the MAGIX Advisory Board.
“With him, the company has evolved into a globally active company for professional audio and video solutions with software-as-a-service representing a contributing factor,” said Alexander Graat, chairman of the Advisory Board. “We wish Klaus all the best for his new phase in life and are pleased that he will continue to actively support MAGIX in an advisory capacity.”
Under Schmidt’s leadership, MAGIX significantly expanded its international business while increasing the share of sales from professional applications to more than 50 percent. In 2016, Schmidt began to realign the company by acquiring the software division of SONY (SCS). In addition, he strategically expanded the product portfolio by establishing joint ventures and partnerships.
“For seven years, I had the privilege of accompanying more than 300 people at MAGIX on our mission: to develop integrated, high-end video and audio solutions for creative professionals worldwide. In addition to our growth, we have achieved sustainability goals: MAGIX has been climate-neutral since 2021 and actively supports the UN Global Impact Principles,” says Klaus Schmidt. “I am handing over the baton to Denis Burger in the coming weeks and leave with great gratitude for this team. I am confidently placing MAGIX’s fate and that of its unique employees in his hands. Denis has my full support in this.”
Burger comes to MAGIX from Native Instruments, where he served as CMO. Prior to Native Instruments, Burger held key positions at GetYourGuide and eBay. He started his career in management consulting.
