mixi, Inc. announced its free secure photo-sharing app FamilyAlbum will partner with DonorsChoose to match $1 million in donations to classroom projects nationwide. FamilyAlbum will headline the donation match event being held on GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that takes place Dec. 1, 2020. “We’re so grateful for FamilyAlbum’s support for our teachers, particularly on one of the biggest giving days of the year,” said Charles Best, founder of DonorsChoose. “Considering the unprecedented challenges teachers and students have faced this school year, FamilyAlbum’s donation will help provide resources to keep kids learning, whether online or in the classroom.”
GivingTuesday marks the second partnership this year between FamilyAlbum and DonorsChoose. The first donation, made in late April, was used to fund distance learning projects posted by teachers in low-income schools.
“This school year continues to be incredibly difficult for children, teachers, and parents,” said Kenji Kasahara, founder, FamilyAlbum. “This GivingTuesday, we wanted to do something special to show our deep appreciation for everyone helping to keep students learning during the pandemic—including students themselves. Together with DonorsChoose, we hope to make a difference for teachers and families across the country.”
The $1 million donation will be used to match donations made to DonorsChoose classroom projects on Tuesday, Dec. 1 starting at 7:00 AM.
