Pixami, Jalea partner to incorporate PicID technology into Yearbook Pro
Pixami and Jalea announced a partnership to incorporate the PicID face-matching technology into Pixami’s Yearbook Pro online yearbook software.
Yearbook Pro will integrate PicID to identify and tag each person in every photo in the yearbook, automatically. This will save yearbook designers hours of manually identifying and tagging people, eliminate mistakes, and provide for better yearbook content.
Auto-tagging 100% of students in the yearbook will also provide for instant student coverage reports, allowing yearbook staff to identify and locate the students that appear the most, and the least, in the yearbook, and use that information in their photo selection and design process. The ability to search and instantly locate every photo of a specific person in the book is also a big step forward.
“We’re excited to bring this technology to our yearbook customers!” said Gary Wood, Pixami’s VP Sales and Marketing. “It’s a game changer for schools and designers in terms of efficiency.
“This is an emerging technology and we looked at every available option. Jalea was clearly the best choice – the accuracy in identifying faces in a group of people is astounding, and their yearbook knowledge and experience is a big plus.”
The company said PicID works by analyzing a set of named face samples to create a database of known individuals. The software can then analyze new images and tag the location and confidence of matched faces – together with reports on the rows of subjects found in the image, labels for group photos, and metadata. Host applications such as Pixami can use this information to automate the production of indices, coverage reports, group photo labels, and other usually laborious yearbook tasks.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Pixami,” said Michael Sheasby of Jalea. “Our technology solves several important use cases for yearbook creation, and Pixami understands the value for their customers. We’re excited for what’s to come.”
Pixami will incorporate PicID into its Yearbook Pro software in Fall of 2023 for the 2023-24 yearbook season.
