Pixum is donating 500,000 euros to charity
Cologne online photo service Pixum is donating a total of up to 500,000 euros from the temporary VAT reduction for charitable projects, according to Foto Wirtschaft. The first 111,111 euro donation went to the RTL Foundation – We Help Children.
To enable this commitment, Pixum has maintained its sales prices over the past few months despite the reduction in VAT. With the consent of the customer, the minimum difference is collected for each order so that it can then be donated to a good cause.
The first large amount totaling 111,111 euros went to the RTL Foundation – We Help Children as part of the RTL Spendenmarathon. Pixum founder and managing director Daniel Attallah said the company is voluntarily collecting the difference between the old VAT and the new lower VAT amount. “By lowering VAT, a customer saves a few cents on an average photo order. I doubt that this will have any lasting effect,” said Attallah. “Instead, we collect these ‘mini donations’ and pass them on in bundles.”
The donation is voluntary and every Pixum customer has the opportunity to keep the savings for themselves. “So far, only very few have wanted that. That shows us that the campaign is well received overall,” said Attallah.
“What convinced us above all about the RTL Foundation – We Help Children is the fact every euro arrives here without any deductions,” he added. “For this reason, we donate 111,111 euros, which we were able to collect with our customers, to two great projects. 60,000 euros go to the SyltKlinik for children with cancer and a further 51,111 euros to the RTL children’s home in Cologne.”
