Zyl raises $1.1 million seed round led by OneRagtime

Paris, 12th September 2019 – Zyl, the mobile photo app that manages our memories, announces today a new 1.1 million dollars seed round led by OneRagtime. This round aims to boost the application development (new major version expected in October) and to take the next step and reach 5 million users by the end of 2020.

Never lose touch again thanks to our memories

Created by Mathieu Spiry and Aurélien Sibiril, Zyl shows its users one visual and edited memory once a day from their photo library. These memories can then be shared with their friends and family.

With an active users community in more than 75 countries, Zyl brings together its community every day by reminding them good memories through photos and videos from the past.

To meet its ecosystem expectations, Zyl led for more than three years numerous researches and studies to better understand and analyze the positive impact of memories – photos and videos – on their users’ happiness level. These researches allowed Zyl to enrich its algorithms and sharpen its technology.

Algorithms and patented technology

In order to avoid personal data leaks, Zyl developed a privacy-by-design technology. Thus, the startup doesn’t store any personal data on its servers. The algorithms that analyze images are run directly on their users’ devices.

To reach such efficiency, Zyl filled several US patents. The first one is about choosing the most impactful photos, the second one about meaningful moments detection & the last one about the way its users navigate through their photo library.
