Leica Camera debuts Leica Q3 43 with fixed 43mm lens

Leica Camera has extended its third-generation Q-Series compact full-frame fixed-focal length cameras with the introduction of the Leica Q3 with a 43mm fixed focal length. The new Leica Q3 43 as a specially developed APO-Summicron 43 f/2 ASPH lens.  The focal length mirrors the natural perception of the human eye, allowing for the realistic composition of distortion-free motifs through the high-resolution OLED viewfinder. Like its sister model the Leica Q3, the Leica Q3 43 also features an integrated macro mode for close-ups. The Leica Q3 43 is available globally at all Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store, and authorized dealers. The retail price is €6,750.00 including VAT. The retail price for the new multifunction protector with integrated handgrip is €250.00 including VAT.

Photos and videos can be taken at the 43, 60, 75, 90, 120, and 150mm focal lengths by using the frame lines displayed in the 5.76MP OLED viewfinder, or on the tiltable monitor with the touch function. That way, an image with a resolution of approximately 5 megapixels is created with the highest selectable sensor resolution of 60 megapixels. This high resolution is maintained even at the maximum 150mm focal length, offering exceptional flexibility for photography and filming in an extremely compact form.

In addition to the lens, the Leica Q3 43 differs visually from its sister model. The new grey leather stands out against the black camera body and honors the timeless design that Leica cameras are renowned for worldwide.

With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the Leica Q3 43 connects to the Leica FOTOS app. With the Leica Q3 43, Leica also introduces a new Leica Look: Leica Chrome. Leica Chrome can be applied to the JPEG and gives images an analog look. The expanding range of Leica Looks allows for the creation of unique, creative, and striking images directly in the camera, ready to be instantly shared with the world via the Leica FOTOS app.

The Leica Q3 43 is available globally at all Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store, and authorized dealers from today. The retail price is €6,750.00 including VAT. The retail price for the new multifunction protector with integrated handgrip is €250.00 including VAT.

Leica watches debut

In other Leica news, the company has launched luxury Leica watches, derived from its heritage. The Lecia ZM1 and ZM 2 watches are precision timepieces reflecting the design of Leica cameras. The Leica ZM watch collections continue this legacy — “ZM” stands for “Zeitmesser” (timepiece), and that is exactly what these wristwatches represent: a fusion of technical sophistication and understated elegance, allowing the wearer to carry a piece of Leica history on their wrist.

According to the company, back in 1863, at the age of 20, company founder Ernst Leitz I gained valuable experience working for a Swiss watchmaker. These skills laid the foundation for establishing his own company in 1870 known as Ernst Leitz which later became Leica.

Focusing on the essentials is at the core of Leica’s design philosophy. This principle of timeless elegance, embodied by Leica cameras, is reflected in the design of the ZM 1 and ZM 2 watches. Leica can proudly claim that the ZM1 and ZM2 watches are “Made in Germany.” Markus Lehmann, Managing Director of the traditional Black Forest company Lehmann Uhren, has been a driving force behind the development of the Leica ZM 1 and ZM 2, as well as the production of these highly precise timepieces.

The Leica ZM 11 collection features three unique watches, each with three different strap options: The ZM 11 Titanium Launch Edition with a black-red dial – limited to 250 pieces; the ZM 11 Titanium Coffee Black with a dial in warm black; and the ZM 11 Steel Midnight Blue with a blue-black dial. The intricate movement of the Leica ZM 11 is the result of a collaboration with Chronode SA renowned for crafting high-end mechanical movements.

Industrial designer Marcus Eilinger, who has had a remarkable career in the Swiss watch industry, now serves as Creative Director at Ernst Leitz Werkstätten. He played a key role in designing the Leica ZM 11.
