Panasonic adds ability for volume photographers to add custom masks to LUMIX cameras

Panasonic announced a firmware upgrade for the Lumix S5II and S5IIX cameras. Volume photographers will now be able to upload their own custom masks, program their cameras to accept multiple barcodes/QR codes for each photo, lock their cameras to require a barcode/QR code is scanned, and much more.

Among the features

  • Expanded Gridlines: The Portrait mask now has 9 customizable sizes + Sports/Group masks
  • Custom Options: Upload up to 10 of your own 960×640 masks
  • Quick Access: A new menu lets you store up to 10 favorite masks for fast selection
  • Toggle On/Off: Quickly turn masks off and on, making exposure evaluation easier
  • Barcode/QR Code Scanning
  • 1Shot Mode: The shutter is locked before and after each shot until a new barcode is read, ensuring data integrity for every picture.
  • Multiread: Scan multiple IDs per photo (ideal for buddy shots, team positions, and preorder metadata)
