Canon expands finishing options for production presses

Canon U.S.A., Inc. announced the upcoming availability of expanded third-party finishing offerings for its production presses. The new offerings are set to include, inline with its imagePRESS V1000 and V1350 digital toner presses, the BLM5000 series production booklet maker from Plockmatic; inline with the varioPRINT 140 series QUARTZ and imagePRESS V900 series, the Press Trim Module from Smart Dedicated Design (SDD); and for customers requiring nearline solutions the GBC Nearline Punch and Bind. These new offerings deliver solutions to support high-volume color booklet making, light production booklet making, as well as nearline wire-bound booklet making for production flexibility, respectively, the company said.
Plockmatic BLM5035/5050(S) Booklet Makers
Designed for customers with mid-to-high production volumes, the Plockmatic BLM5000 series booklet maker combined with long sheet support on the imagePRESS V1000 and V1350 digital presses enables production of high-value letter landscape and photobook format booklets, according to Canon. The BLM5000 series booklet maker supports media weights up to 130 lb Cover (coated and uncoated) and supports squareback finishing. The optional Rotator Crease Trim module supports finishing full-bleed three-sided trimmed booklets. The BLM5000 series also extends automation with waste trim transport and conveyor options to help maximize productivity.
For light production, the SDD Press Trim Module with optional Square Folder offers affordable functionality in a compact footprint. The Press Trim Module delivers flat, face-trimmed booklets that help make it easy to pack, stack and handle.
