Australia’s Academy Photography Australia goes into liquidation, stranding 26 schools

According to numerous published reports, a leading Australia volume photography company, Academy Photography Australia, has gone into liquidation, leaving 26 schools left with undelivered portraits that were paid for.  Liquidators were appointed for the family-owned Academy Photography Australia late on Friday, May 2024.  The abrupt closure also affects the upcoming Picture Day for 26 other Western Australian schools.

In an interview with reporter Jo Trilling, Trish Blake, the Commissioner of WA Consumer Protection, assured parents the portraits that were taken and paid for are secure. The liquidator is bringing in technical support to put the photos on a USB drive for each school, along with a list of local companies that have offered to print the photos.
