Google launches Live Albums to automatically update shared photos
Google Photos has added a new feature for automatically gathering photos into albums for sharing. According to the blog post, Google Photos can turn any album into a live album. The user simply chooses the people or pets, and Google Photos will automatically add photos of these subjects to the album as they happen. Live albums are rolling out now in a number of countries on Android, iOS and the web, according to the company.
The live albums feature is highlighted in the new products introduced today. The Google Home Hub (shown above) can act as a digital frame for live albums and the new Pixel 3 smartphone with a “Pixel Stand.”
Google Photos has also added improved selfie photos with “Top Shot” for the Pixel 3 and a new depth editor to adjust background blur and to change the focus of portrait photos in a few taps. The user can also make the photo subjectpop by leaving them in color and changing the background to black-and-white.
These new features will be available on Pixel 3 and other phones that support portrait photos including Pixel 2 and Motorola phones such as the Moto G6.
