Shift to gifts drives Smartphoto profits, via TIJD

Belgium’s Smartphoto Group has posted impressive results since shifting to digital printing, to photo gifts and to mobile, according to a recent profile in the TIJD business journal. The Wetteren-based company boosted sales last year more than 10 percent to 51.5 million euros. Among the most popular products, according to the journal, are Christmas ornaments, cards, pillows, bread boxes and flower pots.

CEO Stef De Corte says the company expects to continue the 10-percent growth trend to continue, along with gross-profits, in part due to the establishment of a second 5 million euro automated production facility and website called The Gift Factory, the article said.
