SLR Lounge, DVLOP launch Visual Flow, a new preset company
SLR Lounge, a photography education community, and image-processing company DVLOP have launched a new present company, Visual Flow, with a patent-pending, lighting condition-based development approach. There are two products at launch: The Modern Preset Pack for Lightroom and ACR and The Retouching Toolkit for Lightroom and ACR.
The Modern Preset Pack includes 10 presets, one for each of the most common lighting conditions, including soft light, hard light, green tint, tungsten, and others. To use the presets, the photographer simply selects the appropriate lighting condition based on the scene, and the engine does the rest – creating a consistent, refined, and professional image, the company claims. The Modern Preset Pack creates a warm, vibrant and natural look, a style popularized by SLR Lounge’s sister company, Lin and Jirsa Photography, a Southern California-based luxury wedding photography studio, the company claimed.
“The single biggest reason most presets don’t work is because they are designed for ideal lighting conditions, says Pye Jirsa, the lead designer of the presets. “So a preset might work well on certain images, but when applied to a backlit, tungsten, or high dynamic range scene, it doesn’t yield good results. Because lighting conditions constantly vary, after applying a preset we are stuck making multiple adjustments to get our images to look right. This process is time-consuming, and we often never get to where we want to go.”
The second product released is The Retouching Toolkit for Lightroom and ACR. These comprise 47 retouching brushes and 26 tools for advanced editing directly in Lightroom or in Adobe Camera Raw.
