Accessory maker Bilora ceases operations
After the company had to file for bankruptcy at the district court in Wuppertal on Oct. 8, Bilora GmbH ceased operations on Jan. 31, according to a report by foto-contact. This is the end of the long-established accessories and tripod maker, which began in 1909 with the founding of the Kürbi & Niggeloh metal goods factory in Barmen-Rittershausen. According to the foto-contact report, in 1994, the photo distribution was outsourced to Kürbi-Otto Tönnes GmbH with the owners Kurt-Eduard Kürbi, a grandson of the company’s founder, and Hartmut Reck. In October 2011, Carsten Reck, one of the shareholders’ sons, took over the company management.
