Jackson, Wy., camera shop avoids closing through employee intervention

In a time when camera-store closings seem to make the news far more too often, we’re happy to see this report in the Jackson Hole News & Guide about the employees of D.D. Camera Corral rallying to find a buyer in nearby Casper, Wyoming, when the store faced closure.

Like many long-time single-store operations, D.D. Camera Corral faced tough times with the decline of the photofinishing business. The store was due to close in October, according to the article, but employees cold-called nearby shop owner William “Dinty” Miller, owner of Wyoming Camera Outfitters.

From the article: “Jackson Hole needs a camera store,” [store manager Travis] Lucas remembers telling Miller. “The Moulton barn up in the park is the most photographed barn in the world; people come from around the world to take pictures here. It’s crazy to not have a camera store.”
